Permit: Change from school or type of studies
Job Seeking Residence Permit
How to Change from a Student Permit to a Job Seeking Residence Permit
You may apply for this permit if you are the holder of a student permit and have completed your bachelor's, master's or doctorate studies in Spain.
The deadline to make the request will be from 60 days before the expiration date of your current study permit until 90 days after it expires.
With this permit you will be granted one year of residence so that you can look for a job related to the studies you have completed in Spain.
To obtain this residence permit, it will be enough for you to have finished your studies, so it is not necessary to spend a minimum period of time or residence in Spain.
You will not be allowed to work during the term of this permit. When finding a job, a Residence and Employment Authorization must be requested. If this happens before the end of the year, you will have to overcome what it is known as the National Employment Situation.
This is a residence permit and not a stay permit, which means that unlike the study permit, it will have full effects in terms of deadlines in order to obtain Spanish Nationality or Long-Term Residence Permit.
The Spanish Immigration Office will rule over your request within the next 20 days after we turn in your application for the permit. If no resolution is given by the authorities within this time, the permission will be considered as granted.
In order to be able to apply for this kind of permit, both your studies and the academic institution must be part of the Registry of Universities, Centers and Degrees of the Government of Spain (Registro de Universidades, Centros y Títulos del Gobierno de España - RUCT).
